Our Collection Captains play a vital role in safeguarding sandwiches during the transition from assembly to delivery. They adhere to food handling regulations, overseeing proper refrigeration and facilitating coordination between sandwich makers and delivery drivers.

From collecting sandwiches at collection points to delivering directly to partner organizations, our Delivery Drivers ensure compliance with food handling regulations, including the use of coolers with ice packs and timely transportation to maintain freshness.

with shelters, food banks and other non-profits making a positive impact in our community.

Our Story
During frequent visits to Atlanta, Ga., co-founder, Nancy Miller Salzman, saw firsthand the impact that a new local nonprofit was having by providing sandwiches to those in the community with food insecurity. Nancy wanted to replicate those efforts in her home town.
Back in Orange County, Ca., she was joined by Sherie Winston and Mike Salzman who began making sandwiches and delivering them to nonprofits in nearby neighborhoods. With Nancy’s legal expertise, Mike’s background in technology and education, and Sherie’s marketing skills, Sandwiches from the Heart (SFTH) was launched, patterned after Atlanta’s successful The Sandwich Project.
On a regular basis, SFTH provides turkey and cheese sandwiches to organizations in Costa Mesa and other neighborhoods in Southern California. Sandwiches from the Heart is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization, incorporated in Irvine, California. Our EIN number is: 93-2323354
